ASIC Miners Review

ASIC Miners Review

In 2018, the excitement over Bitcoin and the crypto currency is growing. And if earlier this was the topic of discussion of some specific categories of people, now people interested in cryptocurrencies are quite far from technology. Interest is growing, and, directly, to the production of crypto-currency, i.e. Mining. Now, so many people are involved in this, that you can not do without special farms for mining based on video cards, or better based on ASIC. In the article, we will talk about the farms on ASIC-controllers.

BW-L21 Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner

ASIC Miners Review

Target cryptocurrency: Litecoin

Hash rate: 550 MHS +/- 10%

Power consumption: 950 W +/- 10%

Power efficiency: 1.727 J / MHS

ASIC chip type: 28nm LTC ASIC chip by BW.com

ASIC chip quantity per unit (miner): 144 chips

Dimensions: 329mm (L) x 127mm (W) x 159mm (H)

Very powerful farm, which stably produces the claimed hashtrait in 550 Mh / s. For the Scrypt algorithm, by which Litecoin works, this stability is a big plus.

The work boards are located inside the aluminum case, which is cooled by a pair of powerful but quiet fans.

Bitmain AntMiner L3+ Scrypt

ASIC Miners Review

Target cryptocurrency: Litecoin

Hash rate: 504 MHS

Power consumption: 800 W +/- 10%

Power efficiency: 6 J / MH +/- 10%

ASIC chip type: BM 1485

ASIC chip quantity per unit (miner): 288 chips

Number of hash boards per unit: 4 hash boards

Dimensions: 352 m (L) x 130 mm (W) x 187,5 mm (H)

L3 + is an improved version of another common farm for the extraction of currency on Scrypt. Compared with the L3 version, this doubles the number of working chips. Accordingly, increased power consumption, but also a hash-rate, up to 800 W and 504 Mh / s, respectively.

Externally, the model is almost identical to other Bitmain roadmasters.

ASIC X11 Miner DR-100

ASIC Miners Review

Target cryptocurrency: DASH

Hash rate: 21 GHS +/- 5%

Power consumption: 820 W +/- 5%

Dimensions: 280 m (L) x 180 mm (W) x 150 mm (H)

Weight: 5 kg

Cooling: 2 x 14038 Double ball fan (55DB)

This miner became one of the first ASIC-miners, which aroused great interest in such miners as a whole. Popularity was secured by a high at that time hash-rate of 17 Gy / s. The company soon improved devices a little more, accelerating the power to 21 G / s, limiting the fluctuation within 5%. Therefore, the DR-100 model became a serious competitor to similar devices from the manufacturers Innosilicon and Bitmain.

The form factor in this miner is classic. A distinctive advantage are two very quiet, but quite productive fans.

There works a miner on the CGMiner software, which is specially adapted for this particular model.

Antminer D3 (15GH/s) Dash

ASIC Miners Review

Target cryptocurrency: DASH

Hash rate: 15 GHS +/- 5%

ASIC chip quantity per unit (miner): 180 chips

Number of hash boards per unit: 3 hash boards

Power consumption: 1200 W

Energy efficiency: 93%

Dimensions: 320 m (L) x 130 mm (W) x 190 mm (H)

First of all, this miner stood out thanks to a stunning breakaway in power from a similar model of the previous generation: in comparison with the previous hash-rate of 384 M / s, the new one was 15 G / s. That is, productivity has grown about 40 times!

Otherwise, the Antminer D3 is similar to the models of competitors. It is assembled qualitatively, the boards are compact. It is blown by powerful fans from both the front and rear panels.

INNOSILICON A5 DashMaster

ASIC Miners Review

Target cryptocurrency: DASH

Hash Rate:65GH/s(+/-8%)

Power Consumption: 1500W +/-8% (at the wall, with 93% efficiency PSU, 25°C temperature)

Chip Type: A5+ DashMaster ASIC

Dimensions: Double tube, 265mm(L) x 250mm(W) x 155mm(H)

Net Weight: 6.02KG(without PSU)

Operating Temperature: 0°C—85°C (device junction temperature)

And this miner can already be called the king of mining DASH. Model A5 from INNOSILICON produces a power of 30.2 GHz / s. And this is the power of the normal mode – if desired and with the necessary skill, the miner can be accelerated to 38 G / s. This power is quite understandable, since the company uses high-tech semiconductor circuit technology 14nm.

Bitmain antminer S9

Target cryptocurrency: Bitcoin, Peercoin, eMark etc.

Hash Rate:5 TH/s +/-5%

Chip Type: BM 1387

Energy efficiency: 1 W/GH/s

Power consumption: 1320 W + 10%

Dimensions: 350 mm(L) x 135 mm(W) x 158 mm(H)

This model is a good example of the talent of Chinese engineers. They were able to surpass the power of their miner of the previous series in 2.5 times: from 4.7 Tx / s to 13 Tx / s.

The miner is unprecedented – there’s nothing to complain about, there’s no need to improve anything.

Ebit E9 Plus Miner 9TH/s

Target cryptocurrency: Bitcoin, Peercoin, eMark etc.

Hash Rate:9 TH/s +/- 5-10%

Chip Type: DW 1227

ASIC chip quantity per unit (miner): 132 chips

Power consumption: 1305  W +/- 10%

Dimensions: 290 mm(L) x 126 mm(W) x 155 mm(H)

Meiner E9 Plus from Ebit is a direct competitor to Bitmain’s S9 model. Of course, the productivity of these farms is lower, roughly speaking, 4 times, but, accordingly, the price is lower.

The work is provided by three boards with DW1227 chips made using a 14nm process technology. The control panel is located at the top.

Conclusion

As the demand for ASIC-devices grows, with the acquisition of them directly from the manufacturers may have problems. For example, BW.com sold their BW-L21 Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner only from 100 to one hand, and then – pre-order. At their high cost, few can afford such a luxury. And this, again, despite the fact that after the pre-order waiting before receiving the miners in his hands will be several months.
